What is preferable: A blog or a traditional Newspaper?

news or blog2

Hello “TechnoTactics” readers, how are you all doing? Busy checking out the new SEO strategies to get more engagement?

Welcome to my article regarding “The most preferable media you would use.”

“Journalism is popular, but it is popular mainly as fiction. Life is one world, and life seen in the newspapers is another.”

– Gilbert K. Chesterton

It was morning 6 a.m. , I woke up after a comfortable nap of sleep. I was having my usual cup of coffee eagerly waiting for the newspaper boy to deliver the newspaper and add up to my coffee through some news. Meanwhile I thought that till the hard-copy of newspaper reach to my hands, why not to read some news through our revolutionary “Space Age Technology” called “INTERNET”? While I was reading the news on Nelson Mandela, I got struck with a dilemma that what is actually better? I mean I was carried away with a flow of so many thoughts on a stretch that what will you prefer to read the most? A traditional newspaper or an Online blog?

Well, I know that its actually not supposed to be a debate-able topic but rather a discussion based topic. My point here is to just share my experience of whether what would I do if I had to choose among this.

So, let me commence my thought process and analysis of both of these things before you. To be frank and justified I would definitely give my first preference to traditional newspapers rather than blog because of few reasons:

Ohh yes, the advent of newspaper was to make reach the information to each and every home on a daily basis. The things which started with such a simple objective is still as it is. Though the way of presenting the same might have and definitely have changed to a greater extent.

You never need to worry about whether what you want to search because it follows a particular pattern from the first page to last one varying from breaking news, politics, financial moves, sports to the entertainment industry. You’ll not feel empty after reading these stuffs because you have covered almost each one of them not in detail, but at-least acquainted with what is world up-to.

Imagine a situation while reading any blog your internet goes down and you are stuck in between reading some really juicy and spicy stuff. Whereas in case of newspapers you won’t be encountered with something called “Connection lost”. I have personally came across this thing many a times and I was badly irritated on this.

The aura of a typical soothing morning, that cup of tea or coffee, that eagerness or wait for the newspaper boy to deliver you with the hottest buzz in the town can’t be replaced by blogs. That beverage sips, steaming touch drives you in a complete different world of experiencing the information.

It’s very cheap and efficient simultaneously. Let us assume that the newspaper cost you around 4 rupees per day. So monthly it will cost you about 120 rupees. There is no electricity or any other engagement of an electronic device to access your newspaper so that as a whole is zero. So it is very cost-effective.

Secondly, I think that information is something which must be reaching to possibly every individual or every eager minds and eyes in the easiest manner possible. Newspapers are something which is affordable by almost every class of people (yeah I know that even the internet rates are cheaper these days. :P).

Well, during the commencing of my justification I mentioned that I am more tilted towards using NEWSPAPERS. So, I’ll just summarize the points regarding the blogging side.

Well, it seems to be a little weird and contradictory for me to write something comprising of “antithesis” because I am myself a blogger and is always engaged in making reach my thing to those who need it. Its like blogs are something which only works when there is intersection between people’s need to solutions and your content.

You need to do follow a set of hundreds and thousands of criterias to make reach your thing to your target audience.

You need to be constantly engaged in something called “THE SOCIAL MEDIA” to promote your.

It is costlier than NEWSPAPERS because you need to have something called “INTERNET” to access your need and wish.

Well, the main benefits of reading a blog is that you constantly are updated with the world’s rate of change per second. The information is just as far as the access to Google. Once you surpass this transition the world is at your service 24×7, 365 days.

Though at the end I blogged about “MY MESSAGE” with the hope to make reach my message to the maximum number. And in the end it totally depends upon what is feasible or comfortable to you, because both of them serves the same purpose but in different forms.

So, now after you.

I will be glad to get your reviews and opinions for the same.

  1. Both are great means of disseminating information but i will choose blog ahead of traditional newspaper because the increase in technology users and especially in this era of smartphones and social media, the way information is spread has changed and if you want to be updated almost immediately anything happens then you have to be online except in a condition when you go to a place where there is no internet but even at that the amount and quality of information you get from newspapers are limited.

    Hey Charmie

I always prepare Newspaper which makes us feel better because if we don’t have net connection nor no charge in mobile etc etc which cannot be continued to read. But newspaper will be better which covers more matters in 12 sides

  3. World has changed… so blogging is the future..
    Again a nice post..

  4. This is the first time am going to analysis a blog and a newspaper.
I would say both of them serve their purpose, not everyone have the time to log online to read the latest blog post or trends that is happening.

However, the new generation are much more on blogs to newspaper.
    I personally prefer a blog!

A newspaper versus a blog are two different platforms. Why I have one or the other? It depends on what I’m looking for. I do go to news sites instead of reading the newspaper to get the latest updates. Thanks for sharing!

  6. We are in the new age and the as my thoughts say, blog has the great and bright future.
By the way great and interesting article.

  7. Charmie,

I like your contrarian point of view 😉 I prefer blogs but the paper is an easy, cheap way to digest news.

Reading papers also prevents sinister information overload, a malady plaguing most bloggers who consume news online.

    Thanks Charmie!

  8. Very interesting debate. Actually never thought about this. But I prefer newspapers in the morning with a cup of tea.

nice article. mostly it depends on people’s thinking that what they prefer for their awareness. news related to technology, new research, tips/tricks blogs are awesome way but for local media and headlines of international news newspaper would be better choice. i don’t think this scenario as a race it’s just matter of convenience.

    thanks for writing !
